The California State Foster Parents Assn. will sponsor its 9th annual Foster Parent Training Conference at the Sheraton-Anaheim Hotel beginning Friday.

Nina Coake of Fontana, the association's vice president for the southern region, said the three-day conference will focus on "Families Who Care." She said the workshop, which runs from Friday through Sunday, will focus on the special interests, needs and problems of foster parents.

Dr. Gerald Nelson, author of the "One Minute Scolding," will address the association lunch on Saturday, and a representative of the state Department of Social Services will present state awards to this year's outstanding foster parents.

The foster parent group will also present awards to five outstanding social workers who have shown exceptional service and support to foster children.
