Brian Denny, 17, of Manhattan Beach was given the Kiwanis International Foundation Robert P. Connelly medal for heroism by the Kiwanis Club of Manhattan Beach. Last January, Denny was shot in the leg while pursuing an armed robbery suspect who was eventually captured. The Connelly award was named after a Chicago youth who lost his life in 1966 in a vain attempt to rescue a crippled woman who had fallen in the path of a passenger train.
Patricia Gribbin recently marked her 25th year of seeing to it that homes in Palos Verdes Estates aren't painted eye-popping colors--no burnt orange, please--and don't exceed permitted heights. Gribbin runs the city's Homes Assn., which enforces deed restrictions on all property and rules on the architectural styles and colors of homes. Gribbin started as assistant manager on Oct. 1, 1960, and became manager two years later.
Police Chief Roger M. Moulton of Redondo Beach was named the We Tip National Honorary Chief of Police for 1985. Moulton's Crime Watch and Crime Alert crime-prevention programs have received recognition from Gov. George Deukmejian and Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp. Moulton has served as Redondo Beach police chief since January, 1984. We Tip Inc. is a 24-hour crime hot line founded nearly 14 years ago in Southern California and expanded nationwide. It allows citizens to report information on crimes anonymously.
