October 10, 1985|United Press International

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tropical storm Isabel, its winds weakened to 45 m.p.h., sloshed ashore at St. Augustine today, closing schools and flooding streets along north Florida's beaches.

Isabel's top winds plummeted from 65 m.p.h. as it approached the coast, and there were no reports of significant damage after the storm made landfall shortly after noon. "By tomorrow, you probably won't even know there was a storm," forecaster Gil Clark said.
