Earnings

October 16, 1985

Hilton Hotels Corp. said its third-quarter earnings dropped by 16%. Barron Hilton, the Beverly Hills-based company's chairman and president, blamed the drop-off on a 36% decline in income from hotels compared to a year earlier, when it benefited from a number of special events, including the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the national political conventions in San Francisco and Dallas and the New Orleans Worlds Fair. Income from gambling operations was flat during the third period.
