Rams Get McDonald Back From Lions for a Draft Pick

October 16, 1985

The Rams swung a minor deal Tuesday, the last day of trading in the National Football League this season, when they got James McDonald, a third-year tight end, back from the Detroit Lions for a 12th-round draft pick next spring.

McDonald, who was with the Rams in 1983 and '84, was waived in the final cut before the season began and was picked up by the Lions.

To make room for him, the Rams again waived Jim Laughlin, a special-teams player who had been brought back last week.
