The Pasadena Educational Foundation has given the Unified School District $50,000 to help fund the first year of the Tutoring and Homework Assistance Network. The foundation has agreed to raise $161,000 for the network, an after-school assistance program that will be offered at no cost to students on all campuses when it begins later this month. The program is headed by Angie O'Brien, a district teacher for 30 years, and volunteer workers are being recruited by Tony Santilena. Foundation president James Gamb said individuals donated about half of the first $50,000. Other major donors include the Weingart Foundation, the Gannett Foundation and the Pasadena Child Health Foundation.
