Bicyclist Killed: A bicyclist was hit by a van and killed after he rode across Beach Boulevard early Thursday morning, a Stanton police spokesman said. Donald Loopeskoo, 27, of Garden Grove was riding west on Catherine Street across Beach Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by the van. The driver said he was traveling south on Beach at about 40 miles an hour in a 45-m.p.h. zone. "All of a sudden, the bike was in front of him. It just came out of nowhere," Stanton Police Sgt. Steve Kelch said. Loopeskoo was taken to Fountain Valley Hospital where he died an hour later. The accident is still under investigation, but it is unlikely the van driver will be cited, Kelch said.
