BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green quarterback Brian McClure broke the NCAA Division I record for career pass completions and moved into fifth place for career passing yardage as he led the unbeaten Falcons to a 23-18 Mid-American Conference victory over Central Michigan Saturday.

McClure, a 6-foot-6 senior, completed 26 of 40 passes, giving him a record 825 career completions. The old mark of 820 was set by Duke's Ben Bennett from 1980 through '83.

McClure passed for 266 yards to move ahead of Mark Hermann of Purdue into fifth place on the all-time Division I list with 9,308 yards. McClure needs 308 yards to move into the No. 1 spot.

The 266 yards also gave McClure his 20th 200-yard game, tying him with John Elway of Stanford for most 200-yard games in a career.

Bowling Green is now 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the MAC. The Chippewas are 4-1, 3-1.
