BRIEFLY

Westinghouse said it will lay off 700 workers.

October 21, 1985

The layoffs were attributed to declining business at Westinghouse Electric's suburban Baltimore plant that manufactures electronic components for military weapons, the company said. Earlier, Westinghouse had said about 450 jobs would be eliminated because of the Pentagon's termination of the Sgt. York anti-aircraft gun and the loss of a $657-million radar system contract.
