Soviet Bank to Suspend Operations in Lebanon

October 22, 1985|From Reuters

BEIRUT — The Soviet-owned Moscow Narodny Bank will suspend its activities in Lebanon indefinitely, Managing Director Vladimir Tutinkov said Monday.

"We are freezing operations some time in November," Tutinkov said, giving no reason. The suspension comes in the wake of the abduction of four Soviet Embassy officials in West Beirut on Sept. 30. One of the four was found slain two days later.
