October 22, 1985|Associated Press

MOSCOW — World chess champion Anatoly Karpov relinquished what appeared to be a good attack position and settled for a draw in the 18th game of his title contest with fellow Soviet Gary Kasparov. Kasparov remains one point ahead, leading 9.5 to 8.5 with a maximum of six games remaining. The next game in the series is scheduled Thursday.
