3,000 Expected at Assembly of Reform Temples

October 26, 1985

Nearly 3,000 delegates from more than 700 Reform synagogues in North America are expected to attend the biennial general assembly of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, which formally opens the four-day meeting Friday at the Century Plaza with a talk by Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.

Black-Jewish relationships, recently strained when Bradley delayed comment on Louis Farrakhan's past antagonistic comments about Israel and Judaism until after the Black Muslim minister spoke in Los Angeles, will be the subject of one of the social action seminars Sunday morning.

Abba Eban, who chairs the Israeli Knesset Committee on Security and Foreign Affairs, will address the closing plenary session Nov. 4.
