'Bishops and Economics'

November 03, 1985

Those who read your brilliant editorial will not soon forget the lines from the second draft of the Catholic bishop's pastoral letter:

"ALL of us must move from observation and analysis, through judgment and exhortation, to action. We have to move from our devotion, through an understanding of interdependence, to a commitment to human solidarity."

Are these the mere words of impractical idealists? When the so-called practical people have destroyed themselves, these principles will remain. There is no substitute for human solidarity under God.
