Professionals got the lowest pay raises in 10 years.

Salaries for doctors, lawyers, data programmers and scientists rose an average of 5.2% between March, 1984, and March, 1985, the smallest annual increase in the past decade, according to a study by Chicago-based Wyatt Co. The firm attributed the size of the increase to low inflation and a plentiful pool of qualified workers.
