November 17, 1985

Two third-round single elimination games of the Budweiser Open Cup tournament will be included in the Greater Los Angeles Soccer League's weekly program today at Daniels Field in San Pedro.

A regular semipro division game featuring Lempira (1-1) and San Pedro Croat (0-1) will precede the Cup games at 10:30 a.m.

1985 GLASL Cup champion San Gabriel faces Atletico Guadalajara of the East Los Angeles California League in the first Open Cup game at 12:30 p.m.

Guadalajara is considered as one of the top teams in the major division in the East L.A. district. The team is coached by Jesus Fregoso, who was an all-star player in the California League for 10 consecutive seasons.

GLASL defending champion Hollywood Stars meets Santa Monica of the Pacific League in the second game at 2:30 p.m. Both are predominantly British teams and a tough match is expected by Hollywood coach Brian McManus. Santa Monica is currently on a nine-game winning streak.

Two other members of the Greater L.A. League will also be in Cup action Sunday. FAS will meet Garden Grove at Excelsior Stadium in Norwalk at 11:30 a.m., while San Pedro Yugoslavs will meet Jalisco of the Central Coast League at Dwight Murphy Field in Santa Barbara at noon.
