CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The space agency dedicated a second shuttle launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center today, a key element in NASA's plans to launch 14 shuttle missions in 1986.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration spent $150 million to modify the former Apollo launch pad 39B for the shuttle program, and on Jan. 22 it will be used for the first time since 1975 when the shuttle Challenger takes off.
