December 14, 1985|Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — Sol Graves threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns Friday night, increasing his national record for scoring passes in one season to 50 and leading Ouachita Christian High School to a 36-0 victory over University in Louisiana's Class A championship football game.

Graves entered the game with 47 touchdown passes this season, already having broken the single-season high school record of 42 set by Pat Haden of La Puente, Calif., Bishop Amat in 1970.

Graves completed 25 of 46 attempts in Friday night's championship game and wound up his final season of high school football with 95 career touchdown passes.

His career total is second only to the national record of 97 set last season by John White of Country Day in suburban New Orleans.
