December 18, 1985|From Reuters

TEL AVIV — Hundreds of field mice are committing suicide by jumping from cliffs on the Golan Heights in what Israeli scientists said today is the rodents' instinctive way of solving an overpopulation problem.

Field School scientists said they observed the mass jumps into two streams and counted the corpses of 150 mice at the bottom of one cliff. They said about 250 million mice inhabit the area.
