U.S. oil demand increased 1.5% in November

December 19, 1985

The American Petroleum Institute attributed the rise to homeowners tanking up on heating oil and motorists using more gasoline than a year ago. Deliveries of kerosene jet fuel surged because a recent air fare war has bolstered traffic, the trade group reported. Oil consumption by the United States increased to 15.68 million barrels a day in November from 15.62 million barrels a day in November, 1984. Domestic crude oil production fell 0.9% to 8.9 million barrels a day from 8.97 million barrels a day in November, 1984.
