Library Tragicomedy

December 22, 1985

Maybe a scared, angry public could help fight the "Tragicomedy of Urban Design." In your next article, ask the residents of the greater Los Angeles area to read the chapter on Mexico City in (the book) "Distant Neighbors. " Then ask them to write--and keep writing--their City Council members and county supervisors.

The recent comparisons between Los Angeles and Mexico City focused on earthquakes--now and future. The comparisons should have focused on the lack of urban design (and planning). In "Distant Neighbors," residents can read about Mexico City now--and Los Angeles in the future.
