A Simi Valley man was stabbed nine times as he slept Saturday morning and then driven to a hospital by his alleged attacker, who had been living with the victim, Simi Valley police said Sunday.
Thomas Thomason, 41, was in stable condition Sunday at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital with knife wounds to his back, face and groin.
Police later arrested Sherry Ruckman, 26, and her husband, Mike Ruckman, 39, of La Grande, Ore., on suspicion of attempted murder.
Both were being held Sunday at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail each.
Sherry Ruckman, also known as Sherry Thompson, allegedly stabbed Thomason several times with an eight-inch kitchen knife at his house in the 800 block of Dennis Avenue, then drove him to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, leaving before police arrived, Sgt. Gary Collins said. It is believed that Mike Ruckman aided his wife after the attack, Collins added.
Police said Thomason was able to describe the attack, though with difficulty because of a punctured lung. Collins said no motive has been established.
