2 Separate Blazes Cause $800,000 in Damages

December 28, 1985

Two fires heavily damaged three businesses in the San Fernando Valley late Thursday night and early Friday morning, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

The first fire, which broke out shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, caused damages estimated at $350,000 to a Sun Valley carpet cleaning company, Major Cleaning Systems and Supplies, in the 8700 block of Lankershim Boulevard, spokesman Larry Ford said.

The second blaze broke out about 1:30 a.m. Friday and caused about $450,000 damage to a print shop and a furniture refurbishing business in the 13000 block of Saticoy Street in North Hollywood, Ford said.

Each fire took about 45 minutes to extinguish, and neither caused any injuries, Ford said. The cause of each fire is under investigation, he said.
