Starting guard Darrin Houston and reserve forward Mark Kaska have been declared academically ineligible to compete for the Oregon State basketball team.

Coach Ralph Miller said an appeal would be filed with the university's academic standards committee in an attempt to get the two players reinstated.

Athletic department spokesman Hal Cowan said the problem concerned the university's academic standards, not Pacific 10 Conference standards.
