PORTLAND, Ore. — Moses Malone scored seven of his 35 points in overtime Wednesday night as the Philadelphia 76ers downed the Portland Trail Blazers, 121-119, for their eighth consecutive National Basketball Assn. victory.

Malone's two free throws with 2:49 left in overtime put Philadelphia ahead, 118-113. Portland rallied to within 120-119 on Jim Paxson's 15-footer with 24 seconds to play.

The Trail Blazers had a chance to win the game after Philadelphia's Clemon Johnson missed a pair of free throws with 10 seconds to play.

Clyde Drexler sank what appeared to be the winning basket with four seconds remaining but was called for traveling. Malone hit one of two free throws with one second left to boost the 76ers' lead to two, and Julius Erving stole Portland's inbounds pass after a timeout to clinch the victory.

Kiki Vandeweghe had 30 points for the Trail Blazers and Drexler added 23.
