The embezzlement trial of Inglewood school board Trustee Caroline Coleman, scheduled to begin Tuesday, has been postponed until Thursday morning because of a calendar conflict, attorneys for the case said.
Coleman, 48, has been charged with filing false expense claims to account for more than $1,200 she received to attend an educational conference in New Orleans in November, 1983. The trial, originally scheduled to begin in September, has been postponed more than a dozen times. Coleman, who has pleaded not guilty, said Tuesday she is eager to resolve the matter.
A three-term school board member, Coleman has been suspended without pay from her job as a county probation officer. She faces up to three years in prison, loss of the county job and removal from office if she is convicted.
