CLC of America filed for bankruptcy protection.

January 15, 1986

The St. Louis-based river transport firm said that it and its subsidiaries, Wisconsin Barge Line, Reidy Terminal, New Orleans Shipyard and CLC Barge Line, filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. CLC said its other major unit, Morgan Drive Away, was not subject to the bankruptcy proceedings. The company said the filings were caused by the severe depression in agriculture and the river transportation business. It said all units will operate while under reorganization.
