Irvine Sensors Reports $474,600 Loss for Year

January 16, 1986

Irvine Sensors Corp., a Costa Mesa-based manufacturer of infrared and electronic devices, said it lost $474,600 in its fiscal 1985, ended Sept. 30, down sharply from a loss of $881,300 a year earlier. Revenues rose 83% to $4.6 million from $2.5 million.

Results of fourth quarter operations were not available.

Despite the overall improvement during 1985, James Alexiou, Irvine Sensors' president, said in a prepared statement that the firm, which is heavily dependent on government research spending, expects to suffer in the first half of the current year from congressional wrangling over the 1986 federal budget.
