IBM introduced new workstations for engineers.

January 22, 1986

The RTs, which are part of its Personal Computer family but which are faster and more powerful, are the first to use a new architecture called RISC. The company said the RTs are the first personal computers capable of performing design, manufacturing and engineering without being attached to a large mainframe computer.
