Data General Corp. said that earnings plunged 95% for the first quarter of its fiscal year, mainly due to a decrease in demand for the company's computer equipment. The Westboro, Mass.-based firm said that the decline in orders reflected a continuing slump in the computer industry. The company also added that it does not anticipate a turnaround in the near future.
