Guy Lewis, Houston's basketball coach for the last 30 years, said he will retire when the current season ends. Lewis, 63, said the problems stemming from the Horford recruitment had nothing to do with his decision.

"I told my family that regardless of the Tito thing, this would be my last year," said Lewis, who has a record of 586-272 at Houston and has sent Elvin Hayes, Otis Birdsong, Akeem Olajuwon and Don Chaney, among others, into pro basketball. His current team is 8-7.
