The State

February 10, 1986

A Navy man has pleaded innocent in Oakland Municipal Court to five counts of attempted murder and two counts of forcible rape in a series of attacks on prostitutes. Anthony McKnight, 32, attached to Alameda Naval Air Station, was arrested Jan. 23 and is being held without bail. After the arraignment, his attorney, Spencer Strellis, acknowledged that McKnight is considered a suspect in the slayings of seven young women but said he doubts that McKnight will be charged because of lack of evidence.
