Brink's Robbery Suspect Caught

February 12, 1986

FBI agents in Los Angeles early this morning arrested Mutulu Shakur, a black revolutionary wanted in connection with a 1981 armored car robbery and shoot-out in a suburb of New York City. Shakur had been on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list.

Shakur, who was held briefly at the Los Angeles Police Department's West Los Angeles station before being transferred to an unannounced destination by FBI agents, is the suspected mastermind of the heist by members of the Black Liberation Army and the Weather Underground that resulted in the death of a Brink's guard and two policemen.
