Eastern and the pilots union broke off negotiations.

February 14, 1986

The talks, which included a federal mediator, were broken off after the carrier and the union failed to agree on a 20% wage cut and other concessions sought by Eastern Airlines. Robert Brown, a senior mediator for the National Mediation Board, said he will remain in contact with representatives of the airline and the Air Line Pilots Assn. However, no additional talks have been set.
