With Dieter as a Leader, Rams Are on Defensive

February 15, 1986

The hiring of San Francisco 49ers assistant Paul Hackett by the Dallas Cowboys is unfortunate for the Rams because this is just what they need. Hackett coached under John Robinson at USC, and the Trojan offense under Hackett had a well-balanced attack of running and passing. They utilized the tight end and remaining backs and they didn't wait until third down to throw the ball, something lacking in the Rams' present offense.
