February 20, 1986

International Harvester posted a $28-million profit during the first quarter of its fiscal year. It was the fourth consecutive profitable quarter since Harvester shed its farm equipment business in January, 1985, to concentrate on building heavy trucks. For the first three months of 1985, Harvester had a net loss of $534 million, including a $576-million extraordinary charge resulting from the divestiture of the farm equipment division.
