As director, Mas is responsible for four city divisions, including community development, planning, building and safety and redevelopment. His annual salary is approximately $44,000.
A naturalized citizen, Mas was born in Valencia, Spain. He has also done graduate work in urban planning at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Mas is married and has two children. He lives in Laguna Beach.
