Cy Young Award winner Bret Saberhagen of the Kansas City Royals sued the parent company of Rawlings Sporting Goods in federal court here, contending that he was misled over the terms of an endorsement contract he signed three years ago.

Saberhagen, who was 18 when he signed an agreement, claimed that he did not know of a five-year option clause that Rawlings can use to renew the contract, which expires next week. He also is prohibited by the Rawlings contract from endorsing the products of other sporting goods companies.
