Dovie Beams DeVillagran, former lover of deposed Philippines President Ferdinand E. Marcos, has filed a petition with her husband in federal bankruptcy court asking for permission to reorganize payment of their debts. The petition listed 110 creditors, and said $3.3 million in unsecured loans is owed to the eight largest creditors--including $1 million to the Bank of America and $900,000 to Imperial Bank. No statement of assets has yet been filed, although DeVillagran's land holdings in Los Angeles County are worth an estimated $7.7 million, according to estimates by county officials. Last week, state Sen. Paul Carpenter, an Orange County Democrat, charged that DeVillagran's 30-room Pasadena mansion was bought with Marcos' money. DeVillagran denied that Marcos has contributed to her property holdings or wealth.
