Bell : Casino to Get Lock Boxes

March 13, 1986

The purchase of 120 locking drop boxes has been authorized by the City Council to provide more stringent control over collections at the California Bell Club.

The boxes were suggested by Lance Soll & Lunghard, a Whittier-based accounting firm which took over monitoring duties at the casino in January.

The city will have the only key to open the drop boxes, which cost about $75 each and will be placed at all tables, City Administrator Byron Woosley said. City employees will monitor collection by going to the club once a day to observe the counting of the boxes' contents. Woosley said the employees will be chosen randomly so that no one individual will be responsible for collection.
