March 13, 1986

A natural gas explosion tore through an abandoned downtown auto dealership in Fort Worth, injuring at least 26 people and shaking the downtown business district. At least 22 people were hit by flying glass and taken to hospitals, and paramedics treated four people at the scene. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. Gas company workers were in a manhole trying to cut off the gas when the explosion and three-alarm fire occurred.
