The Environmental Protection Agency ordered new steps to require about 100,000 businesses that generate small amounts of hazardous wastes to dispose of the substances at federally approved sites. The affected businesses fall into 22 categories, including service stations, laundries, dry cleaners, printers, textile manufacturers and clinical laboratories. The new regulations affect businesses that produce between 220 and 2,200 pounds of hazardous waste in any given month.
