Gerber Products Co. decided to drop its $150-million lawsuit claiming that Maryland Gov. Harry Hughes acted irresponsibly by banning the sale of the company's strained peaches during a recent glass contamination scare. Gerber filed the suit Feb. 24, the day after Hughes ordered the product off store shelves. Hughes lifted the ban March 14 after federal tests showed that glass shards found in baby food "do not appear to be the result of any defects in the manufacturing process."
