Eastern plans to hire 700 more flight attendants.

April 04, 1986

Officials of the financially troubled carrier said the newly hired flight attendants will be used to staff a planned increase in flights throughout the United States, Europe and Latin America this year. The announcement comes three days after the Transport Workers Union, which represents Eastern's 6,000 flight attendants, ratified a new agreement with the airline. The 700 new flight attendants, who will be hired over the course of the year, will be making about $13,000 a year, Wegel said.
