Purple Prose

Prince and pals are about to return to France for additional filming on "Under the Cherry Moon," the one in which the Purple One, who stars, turned director in mid movie.

That doesn't mean trouble. Well, that's the word from Prince's publicist, who insisted, "Things get blown out of proportion in this business. The fact is, we have to do some transition shots. And we'll shoot another video for the film."

A Warner Bros. PR exec echoed those sentiments.

And went a step further. Stressing that the film is "absolutely and positively not in trouble," he added, "Prince is a genius."

Could we quote him on such an appraisal? "Listen, you can use my name."

The wily publicist's name is. . . .
