KAMPALA, Uganda — Thirteen people were seriously injured when a soldier threw a hand grenade at a crowd of people dancing in a bar in the suburbs of Kampala last week, Ugandan newspapers said Friday.

The soldier, belonging to the generally well-disciplined National Resistance Army, threw the grenade after his girlfriend refused to go home with him. Army officers shot him in both legs as a punishment, the papers said.
