An investment group that includes Drew Lewis, former secretary of transportation, has signed a three-year option to buy the New England Patriots from the Sullivan family of Boston.

The Sullivans reportedly are in financial distress, stemming partly from the losses that Chuck Sullivan incurred with his involvement in Michael Jackson's 1984 Victory Tour. Sullivan is the son of team owner Billy Sullivan and brother of General Manager Patrick Sullivan.
