South Seas Sale Is On

May 04, 1986|JACK ADLER

World Adventures in Costa Mesa is offering a 1-Cent Sale on Australia and New Zealand vacations. A choice of seven-day packages is available for just a penny more than your APEX air fare on Continental Airlines from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Auckland, New Zealand, and Sydney/Melbourne, Australia.

There is a similar offer to Fiji with a three-night stopover for just 1 cent more than the air fare.

The sale on the land packages is based on two people traveling together; a supplemental cost applies if you travel alone.

In New Zealand you can choose from three packages: seven-day use of a Hertz rental car with 150 free kilometers a day and a different car on the North and South Islands; six nights' accommodations in Best Western Motor Inns or a week of unlimited travel on all the government-run New Zealand Road Services' buses, trains and inter-island ferries.

Within Australia, choose from seven-day use of a Thrifty rental car with unlimited travel; seven nights' accommodations in Flag Inns or one week of unlimited Anset-Pioneer bus travel. The rental car can be picked up in Sydney or Melbourne and dropped off in any major city.

In both countries you could pre-book the first night's hotel room and receive open vouchers for the remaining five or six nights, which don't have to be consecutive.

The Fiji 1-cent deal allows for up to three nights' stopover at Nadi or Korotogo, with a choice of three hotels. Round-trip airport-hotel transfers are included.

The round-trip APEX air fare through November, from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Auckland, is $896; to Sydney or Melbourne, $996. For a penny more you could fly to the South Pacific and have some land arrangements thrown in.

The 1-Cent Sale is good until Sept. 15. More information is available from travel agents.
