A Gardena dentist, accused of killing a man to keep him from testifying against him, was convicted of first-degree murder by a Torrance Superior Court jury. The panel, which deliberated less than two days, will reconvene Thursday to decide whether to recommend a death sentence for Dr. Michael Myron Olson, 44. The prosecution contended that Olson killed David Paschal, 26, a Fullerton accountant, in his dental offices on Dec. 5, 1981, to prevent Paschal from testifying against him in a kidnaping case. Olson is serving seven-years in prison for the kidnaping.
