A 3-year-old Santa Ana boy drowned Tuesday in his family's backyard swimming pool, police said. Richard Alan Chavez was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital at 3:15 p.m. after he was found at the bottom of the pool. Police said they were called by family members who reported that the boy was missing. The family could not see the boy's body in the pool because the pool was had not been maintained and the water too murky, police said.
