In NBA coaching changes, George Karl, fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in March, was named head coach of the Golden State Warriors, and Doug Collins, with no experience as a pro coach, became the Chicago Bulls' coach.

Collins succeeds Stan Albeck, who was fired last week despite keeping the injury-plagued club in contention long enough for Michael Jordan to return and spark a late-season surge that carried the Bulls into the playoffs.
